Choosing New Carpets? Have a Blast!

We’ve talked at length about carpet cleaning but perhaps we should dial it back for a second and impart some worldly wisdom on carpet selection.

When it comes to selecting carpets for your new home, or replacing the carpets in your old one, it is important that you have fun with the decision. Many people think that when they pick out their carpets they need to go for a neutral, plain colour in order to match the rest of your home. This is true, but you don’t have to be too conservative when you pick out your carpets.

The trick is to be smart about your decision. If you have patterned curtains, couch and cushions then a patterned carpet may make the room look a little bit cluttered. So, if you are going to go for a wild carpet choice then it is a good idea to keep your furnishings neutral, and vice versa.

That being said, here are some fun carpet ideas for your consideration.

Get Creative with Colour

Contemporary homes avoid coloured carpets like they are petrified that a dash of colour will drop their trend rating. There really is no reason to be such a stick in the mud. If you stick with neutral furnishings a burst of colour will do wonders for the room. Try and stick to lighter colours for smaller rooms, but yellows, greens and blues can make a huge difference. Not to mention the fact that they don’t show mud and dirt like cream carpets do.

Have Some Fun with Carpet Designs

Nobody is forcing you to lay a solid carpet. If you want to have a patterned carpet, then go for it! Why not consider a geometric pattern with primary colours. This will give your home a modern and architectural look. If you are going for a more traditional look then a floral or Persian design will do the trick.

A great carpet choice can breathe life into an otherwise boring and ordinary room. So, don’t be scared and don’t feel boxed in by the idea that your home cannot pull off funky carpets. Your home rocks, and if you believe in it, it will look amazing. So let loose, get creative and have some fun with your carpet choice.
